Sadly, Theory of Love (2019) has ended. This drama brought tears of sadness and happiness to me each week. I am sad to see this end but its truly worth a watch! A drama that makes you think and conveys emotions beautifully even if the feelings are selfish or right out spiteful. The last episodes have a lot going on, and I cannot help but feel two more episodes would have completed the story smoothly. The ending felt is a little rushed, and I wish it would have been more passionate, rather than comedic. Just how Third mentioned he would end a film. With them saying I love you and looking into each other’s eyes! Regardless of my opinion, the drama closed with the reassurance that Khai truly changed for Third and Third learned to trust and love Khai again.

Is it worth a watch?
I cannot sum up how much I love this drama. It’s painful, beautiful, emotional, messed up, and unreal in ways I cannot describe. You must give this drama a chance. I adore it.

Thirds emotional changes:
Third is personally my most beloved character that makes me cry and smile with joy. Third goes from accepting pain, mistreatment, and unrequited love from Khai without question. He is often blinded by love in the beginning. Third would often lash out internally over how much he hated Khai for treating him like that, but he could never voice it or tell him. Because then it would become a reality to Third that Khai does not love him. In the final episodes, for the first time, we see Third display his frustrations, anger, and feeling of betrayal from Khai after his secret is out. Third, hates and loves Khai at the same time. Third becomes emotionally unstable and destructive by not being able to cope with the changes. Third becomes childish and in essence must find a way to go back to loving Khai without feeling blinded by passion.

So, Third receiving love from Khai messes with his internal conflicts of trusting Khai and letting go of the past and moving forward. Third is clearly feeling helpless and is scared of the future. He’s worried about the final outcome of loving Khai. Will he cheat? Does he truly love him? Will their friendship end? Or can they make it together?

Khai’s character development:
Khai, where do we begin? Khai constantly gets angry, sad, and jealous over Third. Khai tries to fix his wrongs to win Thirds heart desperately. Khai goes from being a completely selfish, spoiled, playboy to realizing he’s hurt a lot of people.

But most importantly, he realizes the inflicted pain he brought to Third. Now, we see a vulnerable Khai willing to take any treatment from Third as long as it means not losing him. It’s sad because Khai begins to suffer.

Yet Third suffers a great deal as well. So we have two characters dealing with emotional issues and fighting for love and not knowing if this is love. Khai character goes from only loving himself to entirely devoting himself to loving Third and changing his life to keep Third from leaving him.

Other relationships in the drama:
Okay, this one is a bit sad. We do get one couple. However, Two and Un’s love story is not thoroughly developed or satisfying. They could have had a much better storyline in their relationship, but a look into their future suggested their relationship is strong and steady. I would just like to point out that Two’s relationship with Un does change once he finds out Un’s secret. Before, I had stated Two dynamics in friendship never changed based on sexual orientation. That is solely for his group of friends and not his own love interest. Two does struggle with accepting his feelings.
But all in all, Two is one great friend even to the end of the drama. Bone…he truly is a champion when it comes to doing the right thing. The drama indicates he meets another love interest and surprise; he meets them in the same manner as his professor. In the end, they still have their group of friends who love one another and support each other’s interest. The friendship in this drama thrives.

Things I adore in the drama:
I love the ost. The wardrobe is cute. The acting is phenomenal, and everyone did great! I love the message in the drama and how it displayed pain, love, and relationships romantically and platonically.

What did you think? Is this drama worth the watch? Who is your favorite character?
